About Meat-Producing Companies...

The most effective step you as a consumer can take to end the suffering of animals being inhumanely transported and cruelly slaughtered in Nepal is to become a vegetarian. Non-vegetarians are encouraged to buy meat products from companies which have already introduced certain animal-friendly methods. International guidelines and the Meat Act of 1998 prescribe that meat companies should:

• select only healthy animals
• transport animals in humane manner
• allow them to rest and eat after transportation
• avoid stress in every step of the process
• make sure the animal is unconscious before slaughter
• trained manpower must know basics of hygienic meat processing

Animal lovers are further encouraged to request local shops and restaurants to supply cruelty-free meat. Remember: the more consumers press for cruelty-free meat, the quicker the present abhorrent practices will come to an end!
