Current Annual Report

Animal Nepal presents its 2009 Annual Report. 2009 will be remembered by us as the year in which we really got going. By launching two integrated outreach programmes and building two rehabilitation/retirement centers for equines and companion animals 2009 became the year in which we managed to make a visible difference in the overwhelming suffering of animals of Nepal. In this year for many animals our work meant the difference between a life of constant suffering and a humane life; for quite a few our invention meant life instead of death. Read the entire year in review by downloading this year's annual report.

Past Annual Reports

2007 will probably remembered as the waiting year. After Maoist rebels signed a peace agreement with the government, he Nepalese people waited for its leaders to sort out its differences, to re-announce elections, to emerge the Nepal Army and People's Liberation Army, in short: to build true peace. Till now this has not happened. Animal Nepal's work was hampered by |more...

Money Business Report (SMB)

New Report!

First handed out to Nepali audiences by Jane Goodall, this report compiled by Lucia De Vries and Mangal Man Shakya, reveals a shady monkey business taking place in Nepal where Rhesus monkeys are being breed for American research laboratories, and destined to suffer a horrible life. Download "There's some Monkey Business Going On Here" to read all about it and please visit this campaign's website as well.

Death in the Forest (AWNN)

In a recent survey, AWNN has found that the random release of at least 210 captive rhesus monkeys at Shivapuri Nagarjuna National Park has not only led to the death of at least 35 monkeys but has also greatly increased the human-macaque conflict. The number of monkeys in the Park according to locals has increased with at least 300%. Humans face a high increase in crop raiding and aggression from monkeys. People in Chhattre Deurali and Jitpur VDC are forced to guard their crops day and night. The monkeys have little fear of humans and seem to suffer from hunger and distress. Read more about the situation here.

Archived AN Plans & Proposals

Nepal ABC Proposal

This is a proposal for support for a Pilot Animal Birth Control & Anti Rabies Project for the Lalitpur District of Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. Direly needed in the Valley, this proposal lays out a plan to reduce the incidence of rabies and to reduce the street dog and cat population of the district.

Some background...

ABC prposal

Animal Nepal together with Mobile Veterinary Consultancy Service intends to establish a pilot Animal Birth Control/Anti-Rabies (ABC/AR) program in Lalitpur District. Despite the high incidence of dogs and the deep concern of its residents there is not a single ABC/AR program in the district. Animal Nepal opts to work with a local group of veterinaries as this reduces investment and puts responsibility in the hands of Nepalese professionals. The pilot project, apart from introducing ABC/AR in Lalitpur District, also introduces a community awareness raising program, disseminates information to local veterinaries and trains student vets in surgical animal birth control (ABC) methods, offers sterilization facilities to local pet owners and develops strategies for future interventions.

animalNEPAL in conjunction with Mobile Vet of Lalitpur is holding public forums to discuss this serious and life threatening stray dog situation in Lalitpur, and to explore our proposed ABC solution. Meetings to be held on Dec 23 and Jan 6 at 4PM, Summit Hotel. To view the slide presentation for these events, download this power point.

AN Business Plan (Historical)...

Back in 2004, AN had registered as a Pvt. Ltd. with the Nepal Government to produce pet products for export abroad and sales locally. An internationally-recognized business plan started the venture (Rabo Bank competition, Holland) and is posted here to perhaps help other organizations thinking along the same lines.
